Umami, a Japanese word loosely translating as ‘delicious’, refers to the fifth taste and is a mixture of sweet, salty, sour and bitter. Â When added in concentrated paste form, umami adds depth of flavour to soups, stews, pasta sauces, risottos, stir fry and curries. Â Our umami paste is make by blending red miso paste, shiitake mushrooms, parmesan, tomato paste, olive oil, garlic, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce and nori. Â Add a tablespoon and taste the difference!
